INTRODUCTION
Resumes are very important, it’s the first item for any job seeker’s toolkit. It showcases your experience and sums up your qualifications for the recruiter or hiring manager, and instrumental in their decision making process before considering whether you are a fit for your dream job.
KEEP IT SIMPLE
- The No. 1 rule of writing a resume is to keep it short and to the point. The general rule is no more than two pages unless you have a very good reason for it to be longer, like an extensive career or a lot of highly applicable work experience.
- Always use a clean and simple layout. Use the right language to stand out.
- Use clear section headings, which will make them stand out with bold type, capital letters, and/or a different colour.
- Make sure there’s plenty of white space, don’t overstuffed your resume so it’s not too hard to read.
- Avoid all those fancy graphics, charts, and images that could interfere with resume-scanning software.
